@HannibalBuress is super cool. If you don’t know who Hannibal Buress is then you should immediately crawl out of that hole and use the google to fill yourself in. Our introduction to him came at the 2010 ATP Music Festival where we’ve provided food concessions for the past 3 years and he was part of the comedy lineup, along with Todd Barry and Heather Lawless. We were sort of predisposed to be fans solely based on the fact that he ate Asiadog for every meal (and gave us the most priceless shout-out the following year), but then we discovered… this guy is ridiculously hilarious and NICE and we’ve become obsessed. Seriously. WATCH THIS. WTF. So funny. His first hour-long special Hannibal Buress: Animal Furnace premiered last night on Comedy Central (with Tall Steve in the audience!) which he screened at the Knitting Factory. This is also where he’s been curating a FREE comedy show for the past two years with special guests like oooh you know… Louis CK, Aziz Ansari, Retta, Jay Pharoah just to name a few. But besides the big name surprises, he brings together some of the funniest people that you have never heard of on a weekly basis to laugh and drink and be merry with us little ol’ folks. Who does that!? So even with our crazy schedules we consider ourselves lucky and try to go to every chance we get. Cause he’s blowin the fuck up and this kind of accessibility to greatness may soon be harder and harder to come by.

Curated by Other Music’s Amanda Colbensen, dozens of awesome music labels and Djs will be setting up shop as well as a ton of music vendors to satisfy every nerdy vinyl junkie’s needs. And all the Smorg food! And its on the waterfront! And it’s 80º! And, and, what else could you possibly want?!?

“The Twee Party”, an article in last week’s NY Mag dedicated to the “Breukelen”-centric artisanal food movement features a cast of several Brooklyn Flea vendors, past and present. Though it clearly falls short of glorifying and attempts to dissect the current trend with many-a indirect eye rolls at its aesthetics, it’s hard and a bit unjust not to acknowledge that most of these entrapeneurs are trying to educate us and are genuinely passionate about sprinkling the world with wholesome sustainable products, one grass-fed cupcake at a time… and at the end of the day - beards, anchors, old-timey fonts and all - who can be mad at that, right?

WOAHHH. Hologram schmologram. Tupac lives!

Last weekend was the inaugural weekend of the outdoor Brooklyn Fleas of 2012! We have returned to the Williamsburg waterfront for both Smorgasburg, the weekly food/drink extravaganza, and the Brooklyn Flea in Fort Greene on Saturdays, and back to the Williamsburg waterfront for the Flea on Sundays.

For our opening weekend we teamed up with our dear friend and hot new chef Danny Bowien of San Francisco’s Mission Chinese Food to bring you a special Sichuan style mapo tofu dog with chunks of tender pork shoulder, steeped in spices and garnished with cilantro and scallions. If you missed it… we are truly sorry, for it was indescribably delicious, but soon enough, you will have the pleasure in indulging in all his delectable creations right here in ze big apple! Soon enough.

Thanks for braving the wind and chill to give the Flea such a warm (and busy!) welcome. It’s looking to be BEAUTIFUL tomorrow so we hope to see you there again.
